Thank You, Francis! Support and inspiration for family doctors

With hearts full of gratitude, the “Thank You, Doctor!” campaign (ThankYouDoctor.org)  joins the world in mourning the passing of the beloved Pope Francis.

On Saturday May 25th, the Pope received around four hundred family doctors from across the globe and, during the gathering, shared tender memories from his childhood.

Visibly moved, the Bishop of Rome recalled a particularly touching moment from when he was five years old. “On July 15, 1942,” he remembered, “my mother was expecting her fourth child, my brother had the flu, and the doctor came. A very beautiful memory! He gave us some medicine—it was a cold, the flu. Then he approached my mother, who was there with my father, and touched her belly saying, ‘Ah, it’s time! Let’s wait…’” That same afternoon, her fourth child was born.

With these heartfelt words, Pope Francis highlighted the trust that should define the relationship between patients and their family doctors.

For this reason, from the very beginning, Pope Francis was a passionate supporter of the “Thank You, Doctor!” campaign (#ThankYouDoctor).
Thank you, Francis! We will continue to radiate the humanity and competence that make family doctors such unique and essential figures in our lives.
