Nobel Laureates and Global Leaders Sign the Rome Declaration for Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Peace and Humanity

More than 200 world leaders, Nobel Laureates, scientists, international experts, religious leaders, and former Heads of State and Government have signed the Rome Declaration for a Disarmed and Disarming Peace in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, a global call to ensure that the development of artificial intelligence always serves human dignity, peace, and the common good.

The Declaration addresses one of the defining challenges of our time: ensuring that the extraordinary potential of artificial intelligence contributes to human progress without becoming a source of inequality, dehumanization, or conflict.

During the Global Nobel Laureates Assembly on Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear War, held in Castel Gandolfo, participants emphasized the urgent need for international governance capable of ensuring that emerging technologies respect human rights, international law, and the fundamental principle that decisions involving the use of force must always remain under meaningful human control.

Among the Declaration’s key commitments are:

  • Promoting the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence to improve healthcare, human well-being, scientific progress, and sustainable development.
  • Advancing international agreements to regulate the use of AI in high-risk contexts.
  • Preventing the irresponsible integration of artificial intelligence into nuclear command-and-control systems and other autonomous weapons.
  • Supporting global governance aimed at building a true digital common good for present and future generations.

A Message That Also Speaks to Healthcare

For those working in medicine and healthcare, this Declaration carries particular significance. Artificial intelligence is transforming clinical practice and offers remarkable opportunities to improve diagnosis, prevention, and patient care. Yet these advances must always preserve what lies at the heart of medicine: the relationship of trust between doctor and patient, sound clinical judgment, and unwavering respect for the dignity of every human person.

At Thank You Doctor!, we fully embrace this vision. We believe technology should strengthen—not replace—the human commitment that defines the medical profession. The future of AI in healthcare will depend not only on technological innovation but also on our ability to ensure that innovation remains firmly rooted in ethics, compassion, and service to the common good.

The Rome Declaration is an important step toward that future, reminding us that true technological progress is measured not only by what we can build, but by how faithfully we use it to serve humanity.
